Aperture Science: We do what we must because we can!
I got bored and thought "Hey! How cool would it be if I were in Portal?" So, I drew this up. And I figured might as well have it as an ID.
I'm wearing a pre-game version of the leg springs found on Chell (the game's character). This early design tried a stylish look for the spring shoes, and focused the force of a fall on the legs as well as balance itself out of flipping portals. This proved effective for roughly 9 minutes. It turned out that it didn't focus the force equally enough, causing wear on the femur and, eventually, broke it. This caused are fateful hero to land in front of an acid pool, break his legs, fall forward, and die.
This is my critical review of the picture that is before my eyes. When I look at this picture, I have this to say, Oh my God it's portal related, and it came out past the time of hype for the actual game.
Positives Let's focus on them. I like most of the anatomy of this picture, and I like the fact that there was some explanation when it came to the shoes, because I had no real idea why he was wearing shoes of that calibur. Colour wise, It's flat, but effective. So plus one for that.
Negative Them hands and feet are a bit proportional. And when I first looked at him holding the gravity gun, I immediately thought "Mega Buster", so there's something that could be fixed in later works.
it would have been cool to see a little shading since you've included such a dramatic shadow, but i give you major kudos for the originality, due to the fact that I've never seen this being done before (or I just don't look hard enough) You captured the portal gun perfectly, and the new take on the shoes/legwork is pretty interesting. One thing I think that could have been included for a bit of a kick would be to have one of the cameras of her watching you. Having played this game many times before, I really enjoyed this work. Overall, great job, and I love the originality!
The cake is a LIE!! Heh, I loved that game it was awesome. You anatomy is pretty good, you have done a fairly smooth transition from the sonic style to more conventional anime. The hand and the nose are the only things that strike me as still resembling that style, but otherwise awesome picture Joe.
